To the family of Derrick Hayes, I would like to express my sincerest of condolences for the loss of such an outstanding man. I met Derrick almost 45 years ago as college freshmen and roommates at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. We have renewed that friendship over the past few years here in NW Indiana and I have cherished those brief interactions. May the Lord help you find strength and comfort during this difficult period and may we all reflect on a life well-lived and an influence that has touched us all.

To Wesley,
I am are so sorry for your loss. Your dad was one of the finest men I have ever had the privilege of knowing. We worked together at Indiana and Michigan Electric, enjoying more than our fair share of time together on the golf course and supporting Junior Achievement in Fort Wayne. May God bring you and your family comfort, peace and strength in knowing Derrick lived life to the fullest and had such a postive influence on so many peoples lives who had the opportunity to know him. Please let me know if I can ever be of help to you Wesley.

While I am a”new” friend of Derrick having the opportunity to meet him and speak with him only at our meetings in Pittsburg, I found him to be genuine and a true advocate for the community.
